THE CRITTERS

ALPINE GOATS

We raise Alpine Dairy Goats. This is a full-size breed known for their hardiness. Alpines are great for dairy, but because of their size, wethers (castrated males) also make great pack goats for hiking/hunting companions. Our goal in raising goats is to produce offspring with great temperaments and great milking genetics. Our goats are registered with the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA). Goat kids will be able to be registered with ADGA, if the customer wishes.

The next time goat kids may be available for sale will be in Spring of 2024.

Fall 2023 Breeding Plan For Goats

Candy, Penny, Joy & Fancy have all been bred to our buck Westley this year.

Candy is a Sundgau Alpine doe. She has a beautifully soft udder and on average produces about 1 gallon of milk per day. Penny is a Cou Blanc Alpine doe. In her first year of milking, Penny produced on average about 3/4 gallon of milk per day. We anticipate this will increase a bit in her second lactation. Joy is the daughter of Penny and is also a Cou Blanc. She is a first freshener, so we are excited to see how her udder develops. Fancy is the daughter of Candy and is also a Sundgau. She is a first freshener, so we are excited to see how her udder develops. Westley is a very sweet, Cou Blanc Alpine buck. He is new to our farm this year, so we are excited to see how he contributes to this years’ goat kids.

KUNEKUNE PIGS

Kunekune pigs are a heritage breed. They are known and loved for their friendly temperament and their ability to primarily eat grass. They are generally very easy on pastures, since they do not root or destroy pasture provided they are properly rotated to fresh grass. Providing kunekunes with a wallow or pond in the summer will also help prevent rooting. Our pigs thrive on pasture/hay and get a small amount of organic grain throughout the year. Kunekunes are raised and kept for a variety of purposes: for meat, land management, or as a pet! Kunekunes should always be kept with at least one other pig, as they do not do well when they are alone.

Our pigs are registered with International Kunekune Hog Registry (IKHR).
Piglets will be able to be registered, if desired by the customer.

The next time piglets may be available for sale is Spring 2024.

Fall 2023 Breeding Plan For Pigs

PAUL + TUNES

Paul is a black & white Whakanui boar. He is the smaller of our two boars, but has a big personality! He has a great temperament and is always eager for some belly rubs. Tunes is an agouti Sally sow. She is sweet & sassy and always makes us laugh. She makes the funniest noises. Both are double wattled. Piglets are likely to be born mid April. If you are interested in a piglet, please contact us to reserve! Piglets can be registered, if desired by the new owner.

WAFFLES + WILMA

Waffles is a ginger & black Ru boar. He is very calm and laid back. A real gentle giant. Wilma is a white & brown Tapeka sow. She is the bigger of our two sows and is very smart! We call her our guard piggy because she always seems to be the first to know what’s going on. Both are double wattled. Piglets are likely to be born mid April. If you are interested in a piglet, please contact us to reserve! Piglets can be registered, if desired by the new owner.
